As the Tri-State deals with intense heat and humidity, the city of Evansville is offering daytime cooling centers. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The city has enacted its contingency plan which includes three downtown cooling stations.
They are Central Library, the Evansville Rescue Mission, and United Caring Services.
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Friday, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90’s with the heat index potentially reaching 115.
The National Weather Service urges everyone to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay out of the sun, take advantage of air conditioning as much as possible, and check up on friends and neighbors.
The next chances for rain are Friday and Saturday, Independence Day.
