Affordable housing tops the results of a survey of Evansville residents. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The mayor’s office says more than 830 residents shared their priorities and concerns through a digital survey launched in late March.
Mayor Stephanie Terry says the feedback helps her administration understand where it’s meeting expectations, where it needs to improve, and where future investments should be focused.
The mayor says the top four services identified as priorities for the upcoming city budget were: Affordable Housing, Clean Water, maintenance of city facilities, roads, and sidewalks, and code enforcement.
Terry says the results will be “an important tool” in making thoughtful and responsible decisions on behalf of the community.
She says the city also received numerous open-ended responses highlighting desired community improvements, with utility costs—particularly CenterPoint Energy bills—among the most frequently cited concerns.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission sets and approves energy rates but Mayor Terry says the city continues to advocate on behalf of local residents and provide support for bill relief, weatherization and home repair programs.
