It’s almost time for the annual inspection of the Blue Bridge in Owensboro. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says drivers can expect daily lane restrictions on the Glover Cary Bridge next week.
Inspection crews are expected on the two-lane bridge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Officials say nighttime work is currently not planned but if weather causes delays, the contractor may conduct inspections from 7 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday as needed.
During the inspection, traffic will be reduced to one lane, with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers.
The cabinet says the lane restriction is needed to allow crews to access the underside of the bridge using specialized mobile equipment.
Officials say the Blue Bridge carries about 7,200 vehicles each day and has served drivers since opening in 1940, connecting Downtown Owensboro and Spencer County.
