Major restrictions are coming to one of the busiest intersections in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
The Indiana Department of Transportation says crews will upgrade the aging pavement in the middle of Burkhardt Road and the Lloyd Expressway, starting as soon as June 15th.
INDOT says all left turns at the intersection will be prohibited and no through traffic will be allowed on Burkhardt Road for about seven days.
During the work, only right turns will be permitted and two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions on the Lloyd.
INDOT recommends detours for Burkhardt traffic.
Officials suggest westbound drivers use Stockwell Road and the median U-turn to get back to Burkhardt, while eastbound traffic can use the I-69 cloverleaf to return to Burkhardt.
INDOT say the work will not begin if forecasters predict a week of inclement weather.
