Oakland City University employees are expected to finally get paid on Monday. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
University President Ron Dempsey says a donor is wiring money to cover the last two missed paychecks and the June 5th payroll.
Dempsey is also reportedly in the process of selling a Deaconess Clinic in Oakland City and that money would provide a backup to pay staff.
Many employees have left campus due to the lack of pay and that has interrupted efforts by students to retrieve their transcripts.
Dempsey also says arrangements have been made to resume the processing of transcript requests.
Last month, OCU announced it was layoff-off staff and suspending undergraduate programs for a year.
The cash-strapped university said it would continue to offer graduate-level programs and resume undergraduate operations in the 2027–28 academic year.
Area colleges and universities – including USI, UE, and Ivy Tech -- have reached out to Oakland City students about transferring to those schools.
