The $38 million "Republic" development is planned for the Promenade District on Evansville's East Side

A new housing and business space is planned for Evansville’s East Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Goodin Development, Bowen Capital, and the city of Evansville have announced The Republic, a 38-million dollar mixed-use development in the Promenade district, off N. Burkhardt Road.

It’s named after Evansville’s historic Republic Aviation, which produced the P-47 Thunderbolt planes during World War II.

The project calls for more than 150 apartments and three-thousand square feet of commercial space.

Construction is expected to start this fall.

Officials say the Republic is a public-private partnership with the City of Evansville, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and the Southwest Indiana Regional Development Authority.
