After 40 Years, Work Continues on Lloyd

As Evansville's Lloyd Expressway turns 40, work and restrictions continue

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of Evansville’s Lloyd Expressway. And as WNIN’s John Gibson reports, work continues on the east-west corridor:

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the Lloyd4U initiative represents the next chapter in the expressway’s evolution.

That evolution continues with new restrictions, starting as soon as Tuesday.

INDOT says a small portion of Red Bank Road south of the Lloyd will be closed for up to two weeks, weather permitting.

Also as soon as Tuesday, the eastbound ramps to the University Parkway on the south side of the Lloyd will be closed for about 30 days.

INDOT says drivers should watch for signs, follow posted detours, and allow extra time.

Meanwhile, drivers on the East Lloyd can expect stoppages of 15-to-20 minutes at Burkhardt Road and Cross Pointe Boulevard as soon as Tuesday through Friday as crews install overhead traffic signals.
