Friends and family of Michael McKim gather at Haynie's Corner in Evansville, May 19, 2026

The Haynie's Corner Wiffleball League paid tribute to Michael "Mikey" McKim of Evansville Tuesday evening;

Friends and family gathered to remember an Evansville man at Haynie’s Corner. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The Haynie’s Corner Wiffleball League plays its games on a small field at the corner of Parrett St. and Jefferson Ave.

But Tuesday evening, League Commissioner Ryan Craddock spoke to the gathering about the death of player and coach Mike McKim:

"Late Friday, we lost a staple to Haynie's Corner, and Wiffleball, and the community in general"

The 43-year-old McKim died after a crash involving an electric scooter in Bloomington.

"We are saving space for him tonight just to recognize how important he was to all of us."

Fellow Wiffleball player Sean Brown said McKim’s death sometimes makes him angry:

"But then I keep coming back to Mike and his awesome sense of humor, his smile, and his endless positivity."

Brown said he was glad to know him:

"So, I'm trying to focus on being thankful, thankful for knowing him, thankful for his family."

Visitation and a memorial service for Mike McKim is set for next Wednesday, May 27, at Pierre Funeral Home in Evansville.
