Oakland City University is laying-off staff and putting undergraduate programs on hold. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The university says it has informed employees of layoffs effective May 31st.
OCU also confirmed that students will be informed of the suspension of undergraduate programs and will provide guidance and options for next steps.
The university says it will continue to offer graduate-level programs and prepare to resume undergraduate operations in the 2027–28 academic year.
The moves follow word of a deal last week to keep the cash-strapped university open.
Oakland City University officials provided no additional comment.
