When will employees at Oakland City University get paid? WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
Officials say the financially strapped university hopes to pay its workers Wednesday, after missing payday on Friday and again on Monday.
A meeting with workers was also planned Wednesday on the university’s campus.
Employees at the school in Gibson County received a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification – known commonly as a WARN notice – last month.
OCU Associate Vice President Todd Mosby said the university filed the notification under the advice of legal counsel.
At the time, Mosby also said layoffs were not certain.
Federal law requires employers with more than 100 employees to provide 60 days advance warning of plant closings or mass layoffs.
The university employs more than 100 full-time staff and enrolls more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students.
