An official at Oakland City University says a deal is in place to keep the cash-strapped school open. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
OCU Associate Vice President Todd Mosby confirmed that a “strategic partnership” will allow the Gibson County school to remain open this fall.
Mosby told WNIN News that he couldn’t share any more information on the partnership.
There was also no word on when a vote on the deal would be held.
Staff at the university received a WARN notice last month. That’s required 60 days before a possible closing or mass layoff at a business employing more than 100 workers.
At that time, Mosby said layoffs were not certain.
As of midday Wednesday, staff at OCU were still waiting for last week’s pay.
Oakland City University employs more than 100 full-time staff and enrolled more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students this year.
