The Evansville Fire Department is offering a glimpse of its new ambulance service. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The department has released photos of a new ambulance that’s currently on display at FDIC International, described as one of the largest fire and rescue conferences in the world.
The department calls the new Ford a “frontline workhorse” designed with input from the city’s Ambulance Committee.
The EFD says the committee spent countless hours planning and evaluating to come up with what crews will need to deliver high quality care.
The ambulance has four-wheel drive capability and officials say it’s ready to “navigate whatever conditions come our way.”
Photos of the new ambulance – marked as Medic 17 -- can be seen at news.wnin.org
House Hose 17 is on Mill Road, east of First Avenue.
The department is scheduled to take over EMS service in Evansville July 1st, when the city’s contract with AMR ends.
