Organizers break ground on the planned McCutchanville Greenway in Vanderburgh County, April 21, 2026

Organizers have launched an effort to convert the former Eagle Valley Golf Course into the McCutchanville Greenway

An effort is underway to turn a former golf course into a new kind of green space. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Organizers are raising money to develop the McCutchanville Greenway on the former Eagle Valley golf course.

They bought the land near McCutchanville Elementary School from the EVSC last year and are trying to raise about five million dollars to cover the purchase and to develop the greenway.

Board member Jingle Igleheart Hagey spoke at a groundbreaking on Tuesday:

"Today, we have the opportunity to save this unique piece of land, to stay green and become the center of McCutchanville."

Board President Neil Woods says the goal is to avoid a housing complex:

"While Vanderburgh County always needs more housing and growth, we also need to build more green spaces."

And Woods says support is needed:

"We've really got to raise the money to make this a real project because we are 100% funded by local donors, businesses, and just people in our community"

The group must pay off the land purchase by the end of 2027.
