Officials say beams are set and concrete is being poured for approaches to the I-69 Bridge

The approaches for the future I-69 bridge are taking shape. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

I-69 ORX officials say nearly 200 concrete beams ranging in length from 125 feet to 188 feet have been delivered and set for the three approaches being built on the Evansville side of the Ohio River.

They say work is underway to pour concrete decks for the approaches that will lead to the bridge connecting Evansville and Henderson.

Officials say the longest bridge deck is nearly four-thousand feet long and took four concrete pours to complete.

The work is typically done at night when impacts to traffic are minimized from the concrete trucks entering and exiting the site.

Officials say the remaining concrete pours for the other two bridge decks will be complete by this summer, with work wrapping up by the end of the year.

The new bridge is expected to open in 2031.
