It’s prom season and officials are stressing student safety. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Ascension St. Vincent is partnering with local first responders to offer safety presentations at area schools.
The first was held Friday at Castle High School.
St. Vincent EMS Medical Director Dr. Kailyn Kahre, Sheriff’s offices, and fire departments are leading the presentations.
They say students face a mock scenario of distracted driving – due to drugs, alcohol, or cell phones.
The groups say students will see the real dangers of destructive choices on Prom night.
Officials note teens in Indiana have made more than five-thousand emergency room visits in the past five years.
They include more than 500 motor vehicle-related injuries, with boys being twice as likely to suffer an injury.
