Uncertainty has descended upon Oakland City University. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Employees at the university in Gibson County have received a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification – known commonly as a WARN notice.
It says the school is anticipating a mass layoff.
OCU Associate Vice President B. Todd Mosby says the university filed the notification under the advice of legal counsel.
Mosby says the layoffs are not certain.
Federal law requires employers with more than 100 employees to provide 60 days advance warning of plant closings or mass layoffs.
The Baptist university employs more than 100 full-time staff and enrolls more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students.
