CenterPoint Touts "Levelized Billing"

File

CenterPoint Energy says its budget billing plan has been renamed "Levelized Billing"; eligible customers are automatically enrolled

CenterPoint Energy is preparing some of its customers for changes to the company’s Budget Billing program. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

CenterPoint says the program will now be known as Levelized Billing, reflecting changes driven by requirements of a new state law.

Beginning this summer, CenterPoint customers who are eligible and have applied for the state’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program will automatically be placed on the new Levelized Billing plan.

It will spread estimated annual electricity costs into 12 consistent monthly payments.

CenterPoint says automatic enrollment begins July 1st and applies only to the electric portion of customers’ bills.

Payment amounts are recalculated twice a year to help maintain more predictable monthly bills.

CenterPoint says customers can opt out any time.

CenterPoint Indiana President Mike Roeder says Levelized Billing is one tool that can help manage energy costs, but it’s not the only one.

He says the company has more resources available here.

CenterPoint has implemented Phase 2 of its latest electric rate increase.
