A house fire on Evansville's West Side early Monday sent a woman to the hospital and displaced her and a child

An early morning house fire on Evansville’s West Side sent a woman to the hospital. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Firefighters were called to the home in the 2700 block of Broadway Avenue, east of Barker, at about 3 a.m.

EFD Spokeswoman Jessica Costello says when firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from a window and a woman and a child who had escaped the burning house.

The adult was taken to a hospital with injuries.
Costello says the fire was in a front room and crews quickly brought it under control.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist the adult and child displaced by the fire.

Investigators ruled the blaze "accidental."

More: There was no word on the names of the occupants.
