Local residents have an opportunity to get rid of hazardous household waste this weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Vanderburgh County Solid Waste Management District will conduct its Tox-Away Day on Saturday.
Residents can drop off used motor oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, household cleaners, aerosol cans, solvents and thinners, oil-based paint, e-cigarettes, pharmaceuticals and mercury-containing items like thermometers and fluorescent light bulbs.
Materials that will not be accepted include commercial and industrial waste, explosives, ammunition, infectious waste, and radioactive waste.
The district says Tox-Away Day is a safe way for residents to dispose of hazardous household waste.
It’s set for Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the former Roberts Stadium parking lot.
Residents should enter off Boeke Road behind Swonder Ice Arena.
The event is for Evansville and Vanderburgh County households only -- no businesses.
