Six local organizations are collaborating on a third "No Kings" rally this Saturday at Evansville's Four Freedoms Monument

Organizers are inviting the public to the latest “No Kings” rally on Evansville’s riverfront this Saturday. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, the groups are opposed to President Trump:

Six groups are putting together the local event: Indivisible Evansville, League of Women Voters of Southwestern Indiana, Veterans for Peace, River City Pride, Student Progressive Union, and the Sierra Club.

It’s one of three-thousand protests planned across the U.S.

UE history professor James McLeod spoke during a preview event at the Four Freedoms Monument:

"All of the rights and freedoms that we take for granted today — symbolized by the monument behind us — exist because earlier generations were willing to protest peacefully."

Indivisible Evansville President Wendy Bredhold says she hopes to see a big crowd protesting the Trump Administration:

"This administration has shown that it's vulnerable to public protest and to public criticism and to public concern. They can be forced to make decisions based on public opinion and every time we show up in greater numbers, they are weaker and we are stronger and our democracy is stronger."

Organizers are stressing a peaceful event.

“No Kings 3” is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Four Freedoms Monument.
