Toyota Invests $200 Million in Princeton Plant

File

Toyota Indiana is investing $200 million in its Gibson County plant to make more Grand Highlanders

Toyota has announced a 200-million dollar investment in its Gibson County plant. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Toyota Indiana officials say the investment will increase capacity for the company’s Grand Highlander.

The Princeton facility already produces the Grand Highlander and four other vehicles: the Highlander, the Highlander Hybrid, Lexus TX, and Sienna Hybrid.

Evansville Regional Economic Partnership President and CEO Lloyd Winnecke says anytime Toyota announces an expansion or reinvestment in Southwest Indiana, it sends “positive ripple effects throughout the region.”

The former Evansville mayor says it instills confidence in the region and encourages young people to stay and build careers at Toyota.

The company employs 73-hundred workers at the sprawling Princeton plant. They produced nearly 430-thousand vehicles in 2025.

It’s not clear if the new investment will create any new jobs.

Toyota Indiana President Jason Puckett does say the announcement reflects the company’s commitment to meeting customer demand and “the belief in our team to get it done.”

Toyota also announced an 800-million dollar investment in its Georgetown, Kentucky plant.
