CenterPoint Energy conducting its first Community Connect event of 2026 on Wednesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
Jenna Richardt is CenterPoint’s Director of External Affairs.
She says in-person events can answer a lot of customer’s questions, including those about money-saving payment plans:
"A lot of times unless you come and you talk to someone and kind of walk through and understand the eligibility and the requirements behind those programs, we see that a lot times customers don't know that they are eligible or that they should be signing up."
Phase Two of CenterPoint’s rate increase is underway, and Richardt notes it was a cold winter:
"We've seen some large impacts, and then as we start to go into the springtime and people are seeing their bills fluctuate and change, we just are really encouraging people to come, learn more about your bill, talk to us about what that means, and we can explain all of that in really great detail for you."
CenterPoint is among a number of Indiana utility companies that have been asked to appear before the state’s utility regulatory commission March 28th and tell the commission what they’ve done to address soaring bills:
"What we've done, kind of, last year leading up to now and even some new things that we are preparing to do in the years to come."
CenterPoint’s next Community Connect event is April 8th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same location as Wednesday’s event, CenterPoint Plaza, 211 NW Riverside Drive.
