Conservation Officers rescued two people after they attempted to drive through floodwater in Pike County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
It happened during the noon hour Monday, when Pike County Dispatch received a call for help from a person advising they were stuck in floodwater along River Road near Dodge City.
They pair reported water had entered their pickup truck and reached the door handles.
The Department of Natural Resources says the two were wet but able to move to the top of the truck in freezing temperatures.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department deployed a drone and conservation officers reached the vehicle by boat and transported both subjects to safety.
They were treated at the scene and released.
The DNR reminds everyone to never drive through floodwater and remember the safety slogan “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
