Disconnection Moratorium Ends Sunday

Indiana's winter electric disconnection moratorium end March 15; CenterPoint urges customers to seek assistance

Indiana residents who are behind on their heating bills could see their service disconnected as soon as Sunday. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Indiana’s winter disconnection moratorium ends March 15th.

CenterPoint Energy is encouraging its customers to take advantage of payment options, assistance programs, and one-on-one support.

The company says it has taken a series of steps over the past year to expand resources and support available to customers managing their energy costs.

CenterPoint has also been increasing its electric bills, and the company submitted Phase Two of its electric base rate case to state regulators this month.

It’s not clear how much bills will go up during Phase Two.

CenterPoint Energy Indiana President Mike Roeder urges customers to reach out, saying “our teams are here to help and work with you.”

Roeder says the company can connect customers with assistance programs, set up a payment plan, and help find ways to reduce energy costs.
