American Medical Response is expected to present Vanderburgh County leaders with "options" after losing the City of Evansville's ambulance contract

Will American Medical Response continue to serve Vanderburgh County when its city contract runs out? WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:

AMR Vice President of Operations Mike Addario says the company’s future in Vanderburgh County is uncertain:

"Our plan is to finalize our pro forma and meet with the county hopefully in the next couple of weeks to talk about what we think it would take to maintain our presence in the county and give you all options."

Addario spoke before County Commissioners this week:

"If you have to go in a different direction you have time to plan for that. And we totally understand that. We want to stay. I'm not sure if we're going to be able to stay without a subsidy at this point."

The city of Evansville is dropping its contract with AMR and turning emergency ambulance service over to the fire department July 1st.

The Vanderburgh County Fire Department was founded last year and provides EMS service to parts of the county, while AMR serves Perry and Union townships, and part of Center Township.

AMR also offers wheelchair transportation and a 9-1-1 Nurse Navigation program.
