The Evansville Fire Department is citing what it calls “misconceptions” over the department’s upcoming takeover of emergency ambulance service. WNIN's John Gibson reports:
The EFD says with such a large transition, it’s natural for questions to come up and for some common misconceptions to circulate.
So, the department is sharing what it calls a “Myth vs. Fact” series this week on its Facebook page.
The EFD says the posts are designed to be clear, transparent and informative, as the department prepares to take over the service from AMR July 1st.
Some residents have expressed concerns about transparency.
The Evansville Courier and Press reported in October that the city denied its request for documents on revenue and expenditure projections for the service, as well as any proposal documents created for the fire department.
One of the department’s Myth vs. Fact posts states it’s a misconception that the EMS transition was a “quick decision made overnight.” The EFD says it was a carefully studied, multi-step process.
