EVPL Central in Downtown Evansville is hosting an education food exhibit

The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is presenting an educational exhibit on food. WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:

Programming Librarian Kelly McDaniel talked about the exhibit in the lobby of EVPL Central:

"This is Our Food and Our Community exhibit and it is full of information about local food kitchens, food resources, and it's really to educate the community about food insecurity and food culture."

McDaniel says the exhibit is the result of collaboration:

"Our shared commercial-use kitchens, Bedford Collab, the Community Kitchen at the C.K. Newsome Center, as well as a couple of other kitchens featured, and then some other food resources in the community as well."

She says visitors can leave comments:

"Questions that we ask of our community and some Post-It notes out so that people can record their responses and we can look at those and share those with our partners in the community that, you know, may be able to affect some change when it comes to food."

McDaniel notes kids can always learn about food at Central Library:

"We have a play kitchen and a play farmer's market where kiddos can also come in and learn a little bit about food (and) have some fun."

EVPL libraries are also collecting non-perishables for the Seasons of Sharing Food Drive.
