For the second time in less than two weeks, a troubled company is shutting down a major Tri-State employer. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
First Brands Group says it’s permanently closing its Jasper Rubber facilities.
A letter sent to employees shows the closure is set for April 30th, affecting hundreds of workers.
First Brands announced the closing of Champion Labs in Albion, Illinois in late February.
The company filed for bankruptcy last year.
Earlier this year, federal prosecutors charged First Brands founder and former CEO Patrick James and his brother, former senior executive Edward James, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering.
More: The shutdown may be avoided if First Brands attracts a bidder for the facilities before April 30th
