The National Weather Service says the Evansville remains at risk of severe storms Thursday afternoon and evening, Feb. 19

Forecasters continue to monitor the potential for severe storms in the Evansville area Thursday afternoon and evening. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The National Weather Service says the area where forecasters are most confident of seeing severe weather remains the Tri-State and the Wabash Valley.

Damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes are still the main threats.

Forecasters say small hail can’t be ruled out.

Ahead of the storms, the weather service suggests adjusting plans, making sure your shelter is clean and accessible, and making sure your smartphone is set to receive weather warnings.

The potential stormy weather is expected to be followed by a cooling trend, with a high in the 50’s on Friday, the 40’s on Saturday, and upper 30’s on Sunday.

A mix of rain and snow is even possible Saturday night.
