A familiar face is returning to the University of Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
UE has named Joe Atkinson the Director of Evansville NewsLab.
Atkinson recently left his position as Communications Director for the City of Evansville and Mayor Stephanie Terry.
He has also created documentary films and previously taught at UE.
NewsLab is part of the university’s ChangeLab, focused on strengthening civic journalism and community engagement.
Andrew Carter, Associate Director of the Center for Innovation & Change at UE, says Atkinson’s leadership will help the university build a “more connected and civically engaged Evansville."
NewsLab was awarded a 230-thousand dollar grant from the Lumina Foundation last year.
