The Evansville City Council had to cancel its rescheduled meeting on Friday because of a lack of a quorum

Officials had to cancel today’s (Fri) rescheduled Evansville City Council meeting. WNIN’s John Gibson tells us why:

The snowstorm forced the council to reschedule Monday’s meeting to noon Friday but not enough members showed up in person at the rescheduled meeting.

At least half of the nine-member council has to be present for a quorum but only four showed up while two others joined via video.

In a statement, Council President Ben Trockman apologized to the Mayor, Department Heads, and the public.

Trockman says the inability to meet a quorum is “entirely my responsibility and I offer my sincere apology.”

The items on the docket will be heard at the council’s next meeting, Monday, February 9th, at 5:30 PM in Room 301 of the Civic Center.
