All current county sheriff's in surrounding greater Evansville area are up for election again.
Vanderburgh, Gibson, Posey, Warrick, Henderson and Daviess County Sheriff’s are all open again in 2026.
As of January 27th, no Republican candidate has filed to challenge Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson who first took office in 2023.
Robinson is the only Democrat. He’s one of a long line of former deputies elected to office.
“It seems to me that the Vanderburgh county residents seem to like the idea of sheriff deputies taking over that role,” Robinson said in 2023. “And we like it as well, because it makes a lot of sense in terms of understanding how a sheriff's office works, it's just not the same as the police department, or the state police or highway patrol.”
Robinson filed his candidacy January 23rd.
Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven has a primary election challenger in Jeremy Robb.
Warrick County Chief Deputy Paul Kruse is running for Warrick County Sheriff. Current Sheriff Mike Wilder is term-limited.
Posey County Sheriff Tom Latham is also term-limited. Chief Deputy Jeremy Fortune is running on the Republican ticket.
In Kentucky, Henderson County Sheriff Chip Stauffer and Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman are running again.
WNIN will provide an update with any confirmed challengers for these candidates.
