Before ice and snow move into the Tri-State, activists will conduct a protest called “ICE Out for Good” in Downtown Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has a preview:
Indivisible Evansville will conduct the rally from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23) in front of the DoubleTree by Hilton at 601 Bob Jones Way.
The event has nothing to do with the winter weather -- the focus is the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
Indivisible Evansville says it will stand in solidarity with Minnesota and demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.
They note Hilton Hotels have continued to house ICE agents and “caved to pressure by the far right to drop a franchise in Minneapolis that refused to allow ICE to stay in their hotel.”
The group says the local rally will be held on the public sidewalk across from the DoubleTree.
