Jasper has a new mayor following a party caucus Friday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Ryan Craig was selected by Republican Party precinct committee members to fill the position.
Craig currently serves on the Dubois County Council, representing the county’s second district. He was first elected to that role in 2022.
Craig takes over for Dean Vonderheide, who announced his resignation earlier this month.
His decision was based on a desire to spend more time with family and reduce work commitments to focus on his health.
Craig was chosen over Phil Mundy, an at-large member of the Jasper City Council.
Craig will officially take the Mayor’s Office April 1st.
