Mattingly to Become Phillies Bench Coach

File

Evansville native Don Mattingly has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies as the team's bench coach

Evansville native and former New York Yankees star Don Mattingly has landed a baseball job in Philadelphia. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The Phillies say the 64-year-old Mattingly has been hired as the team’s bench coach.

Mattingly served in the same capacity with the Toronto Blue Jays the past three years.

He was on the bench when the Jays fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 7th game of the World Series in November.

Mattingly was the Dodgers’ manager from 2011 to 2015 and he managed the Miami Marlins from 2016 to 2022.

He has yet to win a World Series as a player or coach.

Mattingly joins his son in the Phillies’ organization. Preston Mattingly is the team’s general manager.
