Poll: Most Dubois County Residents Opposed to Mid-States Corridor

Mid-States Corridor

A poll found more than 8 in 10 Dubois County voters are opposed to the planned Mid-States Corridor that will connect I-64 and I-69

A new poll shows many Dubois County residents are opposed to the planned Mid-States Corridor. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

A poll of more than 600 registered voters in Dubois County shows 81-percent are opposed to the construction of the highway.

Plans call for a 54-mile corridor connecting I-64 near Dale and I-69 at the U.S. 231 interchange in Martin County.

Twenty-three miles of the four-lane highway will pass through Dubois County.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says it will improve regional connectivity and economic development in southern Indiana.

Residents in the Jasper area have raised concerns about the new highway cutting off access to schools, impacting commuters, and reducing safety.

The Dubois County portion of the project is estimated to cost over a billion dollars.
