The Evansville City Council has approved one-million dollars in opioid settlement funds for local non-profits. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
15 organizations will receive a share of the settlement money, with Southwestern Behavioral Health and the YWCA receiving the top amount of 150-thousand dollars each.
Other top recipients include Problem Solving Courts, Counseling for Change, Youth First, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Parenting Time Center.
Mayor Stephanie Terry’s office says 26 organizations submitted applications, requesting more than four-point-seven million dollars for the available one-million.
Mayor Terry convened a committee to consider the applications and award the funds.
She calls it “an investment aimed squarely at prevention, treatment, recovery, and support services for residents affected by the opioid epidemic.”
