Crews were dispatched to a one-and-a-half story house in the 2500 block of S. Green River Road at about 9:30 p.m.
Shortly after firefighters entered the burning home, one fell through the floor and a “mayday” was declared.
The firefighter was able to get out of the house and was taken to a hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
No one was home at the time and no other injuries were reported.
There’s no word yet on how the fire started.
Traffic was blocked on Green River at Pollack Avenue until after crews extinguished the blaze.
