U.S. Senator Todd Young of Indiana is praising the approval of a bipartisan bill to formally end the U.S. wars in Iraq. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Hoosier Republican and Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine applauded the passage of their bill to repeal the 1991 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force.
It’s included in the new National Defense Authorization Act.
Young says he’s been pushing for years to repeal what he calls “outdated AUMFs.”
Young says “it’s time to close the book on these forever wars once and for all.”
Senator Kaine notes it’s been more than half a century since the United States repealed a war authorization and formally ended an armed conflict.
President Trump is expected to sign the defense act into law.
