Students are interviewed by employers during the Orr Fellowship Finalist Day at Old National Bank in Downtown Evansville, Dec. 4, 2025

Finalist Day was held in Downtown Evansville Thursday for college students seeking jobs through the Orr Fellowship

Dozens of college students gathered in Downtown Evansville Thursday to be interviewed by possible future employers. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

It was Finalist Day for the Orr Fellowship, an early career development program for college seniors.

City Councilman Ben Trockman serves as the fellowship’s Evansville Regional Director.

He compared the interviews conducted in the atrium of Old National Bank’s Headquarters to speed dating:

"There's a lot of nerves, a lot of butterflies in this room but it's all for a good reason."

Trockman says the goal is to retain young talent:

"High-achieving, wonderful people from all around the area and also throughout the state that are trying to find a spot with a great company."

Trockman says successful candidates will win two-year fellowships:

"You know, I wouldn't be where I am today without great mentors and connections. And that's what we're trying to do with these young individuals, because we know we need future leaders in Evansville."

Companies interviewing the candidates included local banks, health care providers, UE and USI, non-profit groups, and more.

Winners were to be announced at the end of the day.
