Traffic may be moving again on Riverside Drive by the end of this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Evansville Water and Sewer Utility spokesman Travis Guffy says “barring unforeseen weather, we are expecting to have one lane of traffic flowing each way by Friday.”
Weather may be an issue, with rain in the forecast almost every day this week.
All four lanes of Riverside Drive have been closed since April, after a sinkhole developed in late February.
Heavy spring rains and stubbornly high river levels turned what initially looked like an easy repair into a major reconstruction project.
Nearby residents and businesses have reported sewage and water backups in their basements due the sinkhole.
Utility Executive Director Vic Kelson has said affected residents can file a claim by contacting the Water and Sewer Utility.
