Authorities have released the name of the teen killed in a single-vehicle crash in Vanderburgh County Sunday afternoon. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The coroner’s office identifies the victim as 14-year-old Alexander Hessler.
The Sheriff’s Office says when deputies arrived at the scene on Orchard Road, they found Hessler had been thrown from the vehicle with critical injuries.
The teenage driver and three other passengers
sustained minor injuries and all five were taken to local hospitals.
Hessler was later declared deceased at Deaconess Midtown.
The sheriff’s office says the vehicle was eastbound on Orchard at a high rate of speed, when it crested a hill, became airborne for about 50 feet, hit a tree, and came to rest in the roadway.
Investigators say they don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
An investigation continues.
