Suzy Blesch has died; she was the original owner of the Nick Nackery store in Evansville

The original owner and founder of Evansville’s Nick Nackery has died. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Suzy Blesch founded the popular costume shop in the city’s Jimtown neighborhood in 1985.

She operated the store until her retirement in 2021 to spend more time with her grandchildren.

The Nick Nackery is especially popular during the Halloween season, selling costumes, masks, and other novelties.

On its Facebook page, store officials say they’re deeply saddened by Blesch’s passing, noting the spooky store have been woven into Evansville history.

They say her creativity, spirit, and spark helped build the foundation that keeps the Nick Nackery going today.

Blesch’s funeral is set for December 6th at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
