The Tri-State Food Bank says relief needs are far from over. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The non-profit says the governors of Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky have released emergency funds to load SNAP EBT cards, but disbursements are partial and often delayed.

Food Bank Executive Director Zac Heronemus and Feed Evansville Executive Director Lisa Vaughan stress the importance of continued Mobile Food Distributions, direct support to vulnerable families, and ongoing participation of the community at large.

They say even after the government shutdown ends, a rebuilding effort of the strained response systems will be needed across the board.

Heronemus said that until every cupboard and pantry is restocked and our seniors and children secure, “we are not finished.”

The Food Bank is conducting Emergency SNAP Response Mobile Food Distributions.

Events for Thursday and Friday were not yet announced as of midday Wednesday.
