15 Evansville organizations will share $500,000 in Forward Together grants

Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry has announced the recipients of the city’s Forward Together grants. WNIN’s has the story:

In all, 15 organizations will share a half-million dollars.

The funds are intended to help groups that do meaningful work in one of four areas: food access, home weatherization, services for the homeless, and literacy.

Recipients include Patchwork Central, Aurora, the Community Action Program of Evansville, the United Way, and the University of Evansville,
 
Organizations were allowed to apply for up to 35-thousand dollars each.
 
A total of 45 groups applied for the grants, which are derived from interest on American Rescue Plan funds.

All applications were reviewed by a committee of volunteers, who made recommendations for funding.

The recommendations were reviewed by Mayor Terry before making the final decisions.
