The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is taking action to help people who have lost their SNAP benefits. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The EWSU says it’s suspending all water shutoffs and late fees for 90 days.
The utility says the move is intended to ease the financial burden faced by thousands of Vanderburgh County residents who have lost access to federal food assistance due to the government shutdown.
The EWSU says while water shutoffs and late fees are suspended, customers remain responsible for timely payment of their water and sewer services.
Customers who are currently behind on their bills are encouraged to contact EWSU Customer Service about payment arrangements as soon as possible to avoid falling further behind.
Customers can call 812-436-7846 or send a message to customer service at ewsu.com/contact.
