Indivisible Evansville President Wendy Bredhold announces the Signs of Solidarity campaign during a news conference in front of EVPL West on Franklin St., Nov. 1, 2025

Indivisible Evansville and the League of Women Voters of Southwest Indiana are distributing signs to businesses to show support for immigrant families

Two Evansville-area groups have launched a campaign to place signs at businesses and organizations showing support for immigrants. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Indivisible Evansville and the League of Women Voters announced the Signs for Solidarity campaign outside EVPL West on Franklin St.

That’s where this year’s Day of the Dead event was cancelled over concerns about ongoing ICE raids by the Trump administration.

Indivisible Evansville President Wendy Bredhold told dozens of supporters about the new campaign:

"This effort asks local businesses and other community spaces to display signs that simply say "immigrant families are welcome here." It's a small act of courage that adds up to something much bigger: a visible show of unity across our city."

League of Women Voters Co-President Karen Reisinger offered a reminder:

"We should all remember that most Americans have their roots in immigration, and that it is in fact one of America's greatest strengths."

Bredhold says in the coming weeks, volunteers will fan out and ask businesses to display the signs.

They can also be obtained by contacting Indivisible Evansville here.
