Missing Woman Found Dead in Vehicle

File

Rebecca Versteeg, 44, of Wadesville went missing Tuesday afternoon and was found dead 24 hours later; foul play is not suspected

The search for a missing Posey County woman has ended tragically. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The sheriff’s office says the husband of 44-year-old Rebecca Versteeg told authorities she had failed to return home after leaving her place of employment in Vanderburgh County Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say she spoke with her husband by phone shortly after leaving work and mentioned she was experiencing chest pain and thought it was indigestion from lunch.

Versteeg’s husband returned home from his work late Tuesday afternoon and found that Rebecca had not come home.

He then contacted both the Posey County and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Offices.

After an exhaustive search, Sheriff Noah Robinson says Versteeg was found deceased in her vehicle off the University Parkway near Marx Road.

Investigators say there was no sign of a life-threatening crash or foul play.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
