Evansville firefighters have extinguished a large house fire. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Crews were called to the two-story home in the 700 block of N. Third Avenue at about 3:40 Thursday morning.
Firefighters battled flames and smoke before tapping out the blaze nearly an hour later.
It was not clear if anyone was living in the home.
A neighboring house was also damaged.
EFD crews remained on scene for four hours.
There was no word of injuries or on how the fire started.
The firefighting effort forced authorities to shut down Columbia Street between 2nd and 4th avenues for a while.
