This week’s rain is prompting officials to lift burn bans. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Vanderburgh County Commissioners are among area leaders who have voted to rescind bans on open burning.
Commissioners issued the burn ban on September 11th, as a lack of rain put the area into a drought.
But after Monday’s rainfall and more showers and storms in the forecast, commissioners voted unanimously to lift the ban.
Open burning is never allowed within the city of Evansville except for grilling and recreational pit fires.
Such fires must use clean wood or charcoal.
As of Tuesday afternoon, burn bans continued in Posey, Spencer, and Dubois counties.
