Evansville’s ABC affiliate is not welcoming Jimmy Kimmel back to the air. WNIN’s John Gibson explains:
Nexstar Media Group owns WEHT TV, based in Henderson.
Nexstar has joined Sinclair Broadcast Group in continuing to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live, even though ABC is allowing the comedian to return.
The network pulled the plug for a week after Kimmel made what were called “ill-timed and insensitive” comments following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
WEHT says Nexstar’s decision to not bring back the show includes all Nexstar stations that are ABC affiliates.
Nexstar says its broadcast stations will focus on local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets.
Jimmy Kimmel Live is still available on multiple Disney-owned streaming services.
